Amateur Guitar Anti-Heroes
Rosyth band Amateur Guitar Anti-Heroes are set to unleash their debut album "Into Amateur". The album is preceeded by the stunning single "Anon Awake". Ampersand
Originally formed at school, Ampersand are rising stars of the Glasgow scene. They describe their sound as a bridge between stoner rock and indie, with influences ranging from Queens Of The Stone Age and Biffy Clyro to the Stone Roses. (Beatbreakers 26/5/03)

The Aphrodisiacs
Despite being unsigned, Motherwell experimental 3-piece The Aphrodisiacs have recorded session tracks for John Peel, and featured in the legendary Peel Festive 50. The Beatscene doesn't mind playing catch-up to Peel, and the band have been regularly featured on the show since late 2002. From their early lo-fi recordings on a palmtop, to their latest, more polished recordings, it's clear that this band have something special to offer. (Beatbreakers 7/4/04)

Ashton Lane
Ashton Lane's debut single Yesterday's Too Late was first aired on the Beatscene as a demo track over a year ago. It's been all go for the Glasgow band since then, and they recently signed to EMI:Chrysalis. Fronted by 19-year-old singer-songwriter Esther Duffin, the band's influences include Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac. (Beatbreakers 15/9/02)

According to The List, August81 are "A frighteningly youthful bunch of noiseniks who chew up Placebo for breakfast and excrete Ash for lunch". After several delays, the Edinburgh band have just released their long-awaited debut EP through English label Denial.

Aviator Shades
One of the 10 shortlisted bands in last year's Miller Unsigned on Beat 106, Aviator Shades' brand of infectious indie rock should be familiar to regular listeners of the Beatscene. The Glasgow 4-piece formed in January 2003 with influences including Weezer, Motown, Stooges, Bowie and The Clash. According to the Daily Record, "Aviator Shades have definitely got something that takes them above the rush of Scottish groups looking for the next rung on the ladder. Unlike some of the guitar bands out there, they take their influences and create something new." (Beatbreakers w/c March 21)
Azzuri
Regulars on the live music circuit, Lanarkshire 5-piece Azzuri are finally showing their true potential. Specialising in anthemic indie rock, the Daily Record said of them, "Gorgeous, melodic, epic... proves there's a depth to the glitter caused by Franz Ferdinand." (Beatbreakers w/c 10/10/05)
